It is thought that the Cat School was founded by elves and originally all Cat School Witchers were elves. Also like the Wolf School it is known they are no longer creating new Witchers. This earned them powerful enemies and like the Wolf School they were massacred.

We know the School of the Cat once went rogue and started taking contracts on Men and the other races, becoming assassins for hire. We know even less about the other Witcher Schools. Geralt himself, Vesimir, Lambert, and Eskel. As of the start of the Witcher 3 there are only 4 known surviving Wolf School Witchers. Since the attack the few Wolf School Witchers that remained have continued to die off with no new Witchers to replace them. After the massacre the Wolf School stopped making new Witchers, partially because the knowledge required to create new Witchers was lost. The school of the Wolf used to number over a hundred Witchers but many were killed when Kaer Morhen was attacked by a huge mob about 50 years before the Witcher 3. The known Witcher Schools are the schools of the Wolf, Cat, Griffon, Bear, and Viper. Geralt knows of 5 Witcher schools, although its implied there might be more he does not know of. Not so long ago there were hundreds of Witchers on the path. We are limited to what Geralt knows and most of what he knows he was taught by Vesimir. The exact number of Witchers, or even the number of Witcher Schools, is unknown.
